Teaching
In my teaching, the goal is as much to guide students to think critically
like a social scientist as it is about informing them on current and classical theories. In my experience teaching both substantive
and methodology courses, centering coursework around the methodology and craft of the political science research process helps
students to better absorb course material, but also to grow as critical thinkers. Class debate moves beyond discussions of what do we
know into discussions of how do we know. Since the purpose of a liberal arts education is to train independent thinkers, this is an
important shift to make within the classroom.
